MEET
KJ TOWNSEND.
Kendall “KJ” Townsend is a highly touted incoming freshman at Anna High School in Anna, Texas, preparing to compete at the varsity level. Known for his outstanding shooting ability, KJ is building on his reputation in the Dallas–Fort Worth basketball community by developing into a versatile offensive threat and tenacious defender.
KJ played a key role on Hunt United Black during the team’s remarkable 127–0 run. That experience helped shape his development as he now prepares to bring his game to high school varsity competition.
Perimeter shooting remains KJ’s signature strength, but his impact extends beyond the three-point line. He has expanded his game to include attacking the basket, creating scoring opportunities, and making plays for teammates. Comfortable contributing at point guard, shooting guard, or on the wing, KJ brings versatility across positions one through three.
Defensively, KJ brings a tenacious competitive approach. His combination of shooting, playmaking, slashing, and defensive effort reflects his continued growth into a complete player who can contribute on both ends of the floor.
KJ comes from a strong basketball background. His father, Joe Townsend, is the founder of Pure Grind Elite, a Dallas–Fort Worth AAU program competing on the New Balance circuit. Basketball has been a central part of KJ’s upbringing, providing a foundation as he builds his own path in the sport.
As he begins his freshman year at Anna High School, KJ enters a new chapter focused on translating his AAU experience and expanding skill set to the varsity stage.
